I took some pictures in my garage and I found an old factory building with the doors open that I'm going to return to this week.

More Trees Changing in Spring

Here you see a change in weather. First, sunny then clouds start rolling in, then the rain begins.

Hi Everyone,
I went to Bermuda and I've posted some pictures from my vacation. They were taken in Hamilton, St George and King's Warf. It's amazing how different and more vivid the colors are down there from the water, to the homes and buildings, to the sky. I tried taking different shots besides landscapes and tried to get some interesting close ups. I have so many photos to go through. I am still developing my "eye" when reviewing and find myself straightening most of the photos and playing with the different lighting and coloring features. Editing a picture can take it from an okay shot to something really good but it takes a few different edits, undos, and redos to get it right. And even then sometimes I'm not sure if its right but I am learning alot. You can see the rest at http://www.fotothing.com/rhonda4313/.

This week I focused on urban decay. I was looking for buildings that were abandoned or in disrepair. I spent most of my time in New Haven around Ferry Street. It is kind of sad to see so many buildings boarded up or vacant.

Domestic Energy

Hi everyone, Sorry you haven't heard from me in a while...I've had all kinds of difficulties getting started with my assignments, but now I want to catch up with you all and finally make some posts! First of all, if I haven't told you yet, my theme is "energy" which I will be putting into sub-themes for my weekly posts--This post being under the sub-theme "domestic energy." This sub-theme features the forms of energy found and used in the home. Above is a sample of some of the photos I took to illustrate "domestic energy." The rest can be found on my fotothing account, which is under the username JWren, and you can find me on Jerry's friend list and add me if you'd like. I will look for you all as well. Thanks!

I finally have some photos to show! Here are two shots from my "A Day in the Life" series... which is a profile of my best friend Steve.
I am having an issue getting my camera to take shots with the auto exposure setting without the flash. It's kind of annoying to have to set the focus and exposure without a tripod or a whole lot of time to take photos. Plus I have no idea what to do with the aperature settings. Are there any good internet tutorials for such things?

Mattabasset Trail

The photos above were from my last hike on the Mattabasset Trail in North Guilford. I tried some different takes on the theme of motion and my favorite ended up as the shoes from above. Remaining are available at http://www.fotothing.com/jplyman/

Hi everyone,
I had the opportunity to visit New York and take some pictures. I really like the way they came out. I cropped and straightened all of these shots and posted some in black and white. It was a great day with lots of sun. When I didn't overthink the shot, it seemed to come out better so I began just taking random shots of views I liked and decided to see what I came out with. I'm pretty happy with them. You can see the rest on fotothing.

This week I decided to look for more graffiti. I find this interesting and feel it is a pretty cool art form that is not appreciated. It was very easy to find bad graffiti but I found it tougher to find some that took skill to create. I have posted a few photos that I liked on the subject. Over the next few weeks I will try to locate more of this unique art.

We went to a Met game Sunday. They lost. These are some of my favorites from the day. My son Gabriel who follows in his fathers footsteps when it comes to the love of anything METS. The second photo, I played with. This was the top of the snack shack. The third photo, cotton candy, which Gabriel loves, and I admit I do too! And last, the wall of posters of all the great Met players - past and present. My favorite Met player was Lenny Dykstra, center fielder.

Three more pictures of trees making their way
to full bloom this spring. I took these yesterday
which was the last nice sunny day for a little while
....so I took advantage of it.

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted any of my work yet, I was only just able to get my digital camera back this past weekend and this weekend I'm beginning my sets! Anyway, my old roommate from college has been getting better and better with his photography and I just wanted to share a set that he recently took. Check it out!

Hiking in VT

These are a couple of my favorite shots from my last hike up Mount Monadnock in Vermont. I love the shot of the overcast clouds - you can't see the movement, but it's more of a sense. And the second shot, believe it or not, was just about 30 minutes later and it was absolutely beautiful.

These photos represent a very nice spring day.
Yesterday while on a hike, the I was able to capture
more trees as they continue the blooming process.
The bottom photo gave me an opportunity to show
depth. The middle photo shows various colors (subtly) of buds
on trees (a goal of mine is to try and capture moments as
the trees bud until they fully bloom, but also to show color.
The top photo was compelling to take because of how
these trees really stand out againt their surroundings.
The sun was directly above too as you can see the
shadows are nicely placed at the base of these trees.
Hurray for Spring!

This week I decided to take pictures of a few smaller towns opposed to New Haven. I was looking for more of a quaint setting for my pictures. I spent some time taking pictures of some older cemeteries and churches. I found this to be a nice change of scenery from the larger cities. Next week I plan to drive up to Hartford for my photos.

Hi Everyone, I've downloaded Picasa and have begun playing with the photos I am taking. I went back and edited some of the previous pictures I took that I liked. This week I tried for a more modern industrial take on architecture. It's very stark but interesting. I liked playing with the different features Picasa has and found that I ended up cropping, straightening, and sharpening all the pictures before I tinkered with the saturation and other effects. You can see my other photos on http://www.fotothing.com/rhonda4313/.

Opening day at the EHLL today. The ceremonial raising of the flag during the National Anthem. A new dedicated fence by the Scalia family was much appreciated! I chose to do these in black and white with a touch of color effect. The fence coloring of the flowers is very subtle, but I like it. The flag is just great - I thought!

These two photos represent spring with trees on
the brink of budding and logs being challenged by
heavy flowing mountain waters.
