Mattabasset Trail

The photos above were from my last hike on the Mattabasset Trail in North Guilford. I tried some different takes on the theme of motion and my favorite ended up as the shoes from above. Remaining are available at http://www.fotothing.com/jplyman/

  1. I seem to be having problems posting the remaining pictures on fotothing - hopefully I'll have that figured out soon - sorry for the inconvenience.

  2. Hi Jen, I like the top one as well. The background is clear and sharp while the feet are blurred giving it the viewer the sense of movement like they are running alongside you. Nice job.

  3. To show movement and blur, you need to take the shutter speed down to 1/8th or slower. With a minimum of ISO 100 on most cameras, that is hard to do outside unless you use a neutral density filter or two over the lens... (I have 3 from overstock.com for $12.98, free shipping) that cuts down the light by 9 stops...

Alternately you can shoot at dusk as the light is falling.... Head over to youtube to check out some ideas on how to set up slow shutter speed shots...

  4. I love these shots and have always wondered about how to get the soft gentle flowing of water and the gentle movement of objects like blowing leaves.
